First tattoo…2 different ideas. Hummingbird or Dove? I love both meanings. HELP?
I've been thinking about a tattoo for years now and I'm planning on getting one this summer. Of course I want it to mean something and I want it to be something I won't get sick of looking at. I have come across two different ideas that I like equally and would like some input.
The first idea is getting a small tattoo of a hummingbird and a flower. This tattoo would be no bigger than the size of my hand (no more than 4x4 inches) and it would be placed on the side of my back I really love hummingbirds because they represent love, joy and celebration. Hummingbirds symbolize the idea of embracing life and savoring each moment and it reminds people of that beauty is everywhere. I wanted the words See the beauty in everything or Beauty is everywhere incorporated into this tattoo.
My second idea is just a Dove...probably the same size as my previous idea or smaller. I would just be a simple dove with maybe an olive branch..and then the word Imagine under or above it. I also love the symbolism of Doves because they represent peace and faith as well as love. I think a dove with an olive branch represents peace...I also wanted a dove with a flower which I'm not exactly sure what they symbolizes...maybe beauty? Anyways this tattoo would also be on the side of my back.
What are your thoughts? I know the tattoo is for ME however...I'm very indecisive and would like to hear others shed light on my ideas.
THANK YOUUUU
p.s. IF you don't approve of tattoos that is perfectly fine and i respect your opinion..but you wont change mine..so please respect that and don't waste your time with telling me how awful tattoos are. Thank you.

i u should go with the hummingbird. you can do pretty colors which will look so vibrant! & it’ll go w/ ur brown hair (if ur profile pic is a pic of u.) the colors will look pretty w/ tht hair color (:
I’d say dove x
I really like the idea of the hummingbirds. I love bright, vivid tattoos, and the hummingbird tattoo would allow for more color choices. Both are wonderful ideas, I just like the idea of color.
Hey!! get the hummingbird. the dove is usually over done and the humming bird would be more unique plus i just got one
it turned out so amazing! Plus i really like your reasoning behind both but the hummingbird is much better in my opinion.
I have long believed that they should lower the drinking age to 16 and raise the tattoo age to 25. It’s not that I disagree with tattoo’s (as a matter of fact I have a full sleeve, and have done tattoos myself) it’s just that as a person with lots of ink, I constantly have people tell me what dumb tattoos they want and what the meaning behind them is going to be. I have covered up every tattoo of mine that had meaning with a tattoo that has no meaning why you might ask? Because as you age dear, your perspective on things (especially vain things like beauty) is going to change, and that little beauty stamp you wanna get isn’t going to have anything beautiful about it when your 60. Second that’s a bad spot (pain wise) for a tattoo especially if you plan on having kids (a bun in the oven will stretch the skin in this area and pretty much wreck the piece) here are some things to think about before going under the needle
1. Once you have an idea wait 5 years min. On it. Use all 5 years to look through tat mags You will be surprised how often your ideas will change once it’s on the skin your options are few, also look for a tattoo artist, and shop around on this some of the nicest artists I have met are Also the biggest cons in the biz. 5 years is not long to wait for something that will be there for a lifetime.
2. Go big! I always hear people with small tattoos wish they had gone bigger.
3. No words ever, this is Always a mistake, allow the meaning of your tattoo to change as much as you will.
4. If you are so indecisive about what to get tattoed that you are asking people on the internet, then you are not ready for ink yet, once you know what it is that you want exactly and have seen the drawing from the artist and you know you can go through with it and nobody can tell you different then it’s time to get it inked.
good luck and be smart
In my opinion I think you should do the humming bird/flower,but hey I’m a bit biased since my tattoo is a humming bird/flower with something else.
